Overview
- Police arrested Masahito Kondo, 66, on suspicion of using a forged stamped public document and say he has admitted the allegation.
- Investigators allege he submitted a fake copy of a junior-high teacher license in January, bearing his name but another person’s license number, to Sue Town’s education board.
- Kondo was hired in April as a fiscal-year assistant to support after-school math and campus supervision, in a role that does not legally require a license though the town requested one for quality assurance.
- After a mid-September report that he made an inappropriate remark to a student, the school sought the original license, placed him on leave over unclear responses, and consulted police.
- Officers searched his home on Oct. 13 and are reviewing seized items while probing reports he worked in Saitama, Gunma, and Yamaguchi despite a license invalidated after a 2005 dismissal and lapsed again in 2012.
