Fugitive in Fatal Manitoba Crash Arrested at Toronto Pearson After Overseas Flight

Interagency coordination through border screening led to the airport arrest.

  • Navjeet Singh, 25, was taken into custody Thursday morning at Toronto Pearson International Airport after arriving on an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
  • Peel Regional Police and Canada Border Services Agency officers made the arrest, according to Manitoba RCMP.
  • Singh was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant issued Nov. 21, 2024, after he was released from hospital and could not be located.
  • Pembina Valley RCMP charged him with two counts of dangerous operation causing death and one count of obstructing a peace officer following a Nov. 15, 2024 collision near Altona that killed Sara Unger, 35, and her daughter Alexa, 8.
  • RCMP say Singh remains in custody and will be escorted to Manitoba in the coming days, crediting CBSA, Peel police and Manitoba Motor Carrier Enforcement for their roles.
