Fugees Rapper Pras Michel On Trial for Campaign Finance Violations and Foreign Agent Charges

According to prosecutors, Pras Michel received $20 million from a Malaysian businessman to donate to Barack Obama's 2012 presidential campaign.
Michel is accused of funneling the money through straw donors to skirt campaign finance laws.
Michel allegedly tried to halt a U.S. investigation into the Malaysian businessman, who is accused of stealing billions of dollars from Malaysia's sovereign wealth fund.
Michel claimed in his testimony that the payments were "free money" and he believed his actions were legal and in the interest of the U.S.
If convicted, Michel faces up to 20 years in prison for the felony charges which include conspiracy, making false statements, and failing to register as a foreign agent.
