Overview

• The tanker overturned at 1:39 p.m. Sunday on the ramp from I-270 South to SR 161 East while carrying 8,500 gallons of fuel.
• All northbound lanes on I-270 and eastbound lanes on SR 161 remain closed as traffic cameras captured towering plumes of thick, dark smoke.
• Columbus fire department crews have largely contained the blaze and continue working to fully extinguish remaining hotspots.
• The tanker’s driver was transported to Riverside Hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover.
