Fuel Tanker Hits Ambulance in Reisterstown, Injuring Seven as Vehicle Catches Fire

Overview

  • Officials said the three-vehicle crash occurred around 8:10 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Pike and Butler Road, shutting down the intersection.
  • The ambulance was responding on a mutual-aid request to Baltimore County when it was struck by the gasoline tanker.
  • A firefighter/paramedic and a firefighter/EMT from Carroll County were flown by Medevac to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and were listed as stable.
  • Two additional people were taken to Sinai Hospital in Baltimore following on-scene treatment of seven total patients.
  • Carroll County Fire & EMS called the incident a departmental tragedy, kept service intact at the Gamber station with unit M-139, and said Baltimore County Police are leading the investigation.
