FTX Begins $900 Million Fifth Creditor Distribution

The payout forces allowed but unverified claimants to finish provider onboarding within six months to retain their right to receive funds.

Overview

  • The FTX Recovery Trust began the fifth distribution on Friday, July 31, sending about $900 million to allowed Convenience and Non-Convenience claimants through BitGo, Kraken and Payoneer with payments expected in one to three business days.
  • FTX separates claim allowance from payment readiness so claimants also had to submit valid tax forms, pass sanctions screening and complete distribution-provider onboarding by the June 16 record date to be paid on July 31.
  • Allowed claimants who missed provider onboarding on the record date now have a six-month window from July 31 to finish onboarding or risk forfeiting their distribution rights.
  • The payout lifts cumulative class recoveries to roughly 105% for international dotcom and U.S. customer claims, about 103% for general unsecured and digital-asset loan claims, and lists convenience claims at 120%, taking total repayments close to $10 billion.
  • Separate but related actions include a scheduled $18 million preferred-shareholder payment that brings preferred distributions to $95 million, a Bahamas distribution process run by FTX Digital Markets, and a nearly $165 million Delaware settlement routing Junho Bang–linked recoveries to victims while barring Bang and affiliates from proceeds.
