FTSE 100 Bosses Earn More Than Average UK Worker's Annual Salary in Three Days
While CEO pay has increased by 9.5% since March 2023, workers' median pay has only increased by 6%, highlighting growing pay inequality.
- By 1pm on the third working day of 2024, FTSE 100 bosses will have earned more than the average UK worker's annual salary of £34,963, according to the High Pay Centre.
- The average pay of FTSE 100 CEOs has increased by 9.5% since March 2023, while workers’ median pay has increased by 6%.
- Other FTSE 350 executives, including senior executives and bosses outside the biggest 100 firms, will need to work until 10 January to overtake the median UK worker's pay.
- Top city lawyers working at firms including Clifford Chance and Allen & Overy receive an average yearly salary of £1.92m, surpassing the typical wage by 8 January.
- Everyone in the top 1% of full-time UK workers, earning at least £145,000, will have overtaken the amount by 29 March.
