FTR Announce Open-Ended Break From AEW

Citing years of wear and tear plus mental exhaustion, they have confirmed only a few independent August dates with their long-term status left open.

Overview

  • Dax Harwood announced that he and Cash Wheeler will step away from All Elite Wrestling for an extended, open-ended break to recover from cumulative injuries and burnout.
  • Harwood listed specific physical issues including past bicep tears, repeated hematomas, a labrum tear and a shoulder that may need replacement as key reasons for the pause.
  • The team has not appeared on AEW television since losing the AEW World Tag Team Championship in an I Quit match at Double or Nothing.
  • FTR remain booked for a small set of independent shows in August, including dates on August 22 and August 29, while Cash Wheeler has expressed interest in attempting New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s World Tag League.
  • The break marks the first time in about 12 years the duo have paused full-time work and raises short-term questions for AEW’s tag division and longer-term questions about whether FTR will return to regular competition.
