FTII Pune and SRFTI Kolkata Achieve Deemed University Status

The prestigious film institutes can now award degrees, offer doctoral programs, and integrate with national academic frameworks under NEP 2020.

  • FTII Pune and SRFTI Kolkata have officially been granted deemed-to-be university status under Section 3 of the UGC Act, as of April 23, 2025.
  • This new designation allows the institutes to award degrees, launch doctoral and research programs, and ensure compliance with UGC and NEP 2020 guidelines.
  • Both institutes will now participate in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and integrate with the Academic Bank of Credits to enhance academic mobility and transparency.
