FSSAI Issues Improvement Notice to Radisson Blu Delhi Over Hygiene Failures

The regulator has demanded a detailed action taken report and warned that licence suspension could follow if corrective steps are not shown.

Overview

  • FSSAI issued an improvement notice to AB Hotels Ltd, operator of Radisson Blu New Delhi, directing immediate corrective measures and a detailed action taken report after inspectors recorded multiple failures on October 16.
  • Inspectors documented poor maintenance such as rusted machinery and freezer leaks, inadequate refrigeration and ventilation, stagnant water, drainage and food-waste problems, and active cockroach and fly presence.
  • The notice highlighted lapses in food procurement and traceability after fungal or deteriorated fruits and vegetables were received, and found food handlers working without gloves or hairnets with improper segregation of raw, cooked and allergen-containing items.
  • Cooking oil checks were not carried out as required and oils with Total Polar Compound values of 31 and 24.4 were found in use, exceeding FSSAI guidance that bars used oil with TPC above 25 percent.
  • Separately, FSSAI has issued notices to Gemini Edibles, BigBasket and Flipkart over disputed health claims for a rice-bran oil product and suspended DNV Food Products’ licence after unhygienic manufacturing findings, showing the regulator is pursuing enforcement across hotels, manufacturers and e-commerce.
