FSIS Announces Class I Recall of 91,585 Pounds of Breakfast Burritos Over Listeria Risk

Frozen items tied to federal school meal programs contain egg ingredients flagged in supplier testing for possible contamination.

Overview

  • M. C.I. Foods voluntarily initiated the recall after routine testing detected Listeria in an egg ingredient from an external supplier.
  • The action covers seven frozen breakfast burritos and wraps sold under the El Mas Fino, Los Cabos, and Midamar brands.
  • Affected packages bear USDA establishment numbers EST. 1162A or P-5890A and were produced from Sept. 17 to Oct. 14, 2025.
  • Distribution includes the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs, and institutions are instructed not to serve the products and to discard them.
  • No illnesses have been reported, and FSIS advises consumers to throw away the products and notes heightened risk for pregnant people, newborns, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.
