Overview

  • On June 11 the Food Standards Agency issued a recall for Jolly Rancher Hard Candy, ‘Misfits’ Gummies, Hard Candy Fruity 2 in 1 and Berry Gummies after detecting MOAH and MOSH in multiple batches
  • Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons are genotoxic carcinogens that can damage DNA and elevate cancer risk if consumed regularly or in high quantities
  • The recall covers all pack sizes, batch codes and best-before dates of the affected products and enforcement authorities have been asked to remove and recall all stock from shops
  • Consumers are advised not to purchase the listed sweets, to safely dispose of any they already have and to note that past consumption carries a low immediate risk but should not continue
  • Hershey withdrew non-compliant Jolly Rancher lines in 2024, but third-party imports persisted, prompting the FSA to work with local authorities on full market removal
