- Annual recall notices have climbed to about 311 since 2022, with 198 already recorded by 17 August 2025
- Fruits and vegetables account for 13.9% of recalls, followed by ice cream and sweets at 11.1% and herbs and spices at 10.7%
- Pathogen contamination (20.6%), foreign bodies (20.3%), chemical residues (18.9%) and undeclared allergens (16.4%) are the leading recall triggers
- Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia each recorded 244 recalls over the period, topping all German states in notifications
