Frontier Plans First South America Routes From Orlando to Three Colombian Cities

Government approval would allow Frontier to fill a low-cost gap left by Spirit by adding direct Colombia–Orlando seats.

Overview

  • Frontier announced on Sept. 10 planned nonstop flights from Orlando to Medellín, Bogotá and Cartagena with published December 2026 launch dates and introductory one-way fares.
  • The carrier detailed initial frequencies as daily for Medellín starting Dec. 10, six weekly Bogotá flights beginning Dec. 14 that rise to daily on March 6, 2027, and a weekly Cartagena flight from Dec. 19.
  • All three routes remain conditional on government and regulatory approvals and Frontier cautioned that schedules and fares are provisional until those permissions arrive.
  • The routes target a low-cost connectivity gap left by Spirit’s collapse earlier in 2026, and Frontier says it will take a measured approach to adding former Spirit markets.
  • If approved and sustained, the new nonstop service would give Colombian travelers another direct option into Orlando’s tourism market while any effect on Walt Disney World attendance will depend on bookings and longer-term demand trends.
