Overview
- A coastal frontal system plus a newly formed canal de umidade is organizing a band of clouds and rain that is producing showers and thunderstorms from the North through the Centre-West and into parts of the Southeast.
- The national weather service Inmet has issued color-coded alerts, with yellow warnings across wide areas of the North, Northeast, Centre-West and Southeast and orange warnings for parts of Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.
- Instability tied to the front is driving thunderstorm activity in the North, including Acre, Amazonas, Roraima and central-south Pará, and giving isolated storms to Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and northern and eastern São Paulo.
- A following mass of dry, cold air is reducing cloudiness and lowering temperatures in the South and inland São Paulo, with forecast ranges such as São Paulo about 11–17°C, Curitiba about 8–18°C and Porto Alegre about 13–19°C.
- People in warned areas should expect localized heavy rain, gusty winds and possible flooding in low-lying zones and should follow Inmet bulletins for updates and safety guidance as conditions change.
