FromSoftware Confirms Ranked Matchmaking For The Duskbloods

Phased network tests will determine whether key social and balance systems ship at launch or arrive afterward.

Overview

  • FromSoftware ran a phased closed Network Test from August 21 to 24 to stress servers and collect player feedback and telemetry on matchmaking, balance and experimental mechanics.
  • Hidetaka Miyazaki told reporters the game will use ranked, skill-based matchmaking to group similarly skilled players and keep newer players in separate pools to avoid lopsided matches.
  • Miyazaki cautioned the ranked system may not launch immediately and could be added post-launch depending on test results and server stability.
  • The studio is evaluating non‑combat and social tools — including an opt‑in Alliance pairing, rare in‑match events, unlockable progression and companion 'Kin' systems — to help newcomers enjoy the game and encourage positive veteran–newcomer interaction.
  • The Duskbloods is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive after development problems on Switch 1, with Nintendo providing technical and onboarding support, and the Network Test’s leaks and earlier log‑in failures will factor into final rollout decisions.
