Fritz-Kola to Pilot Aluminum Cans in Hamburg Next Month

The move coincides with a call to raise glass-bottle deposits to 20–25 cents to shore up return rates.

Overview

  • The company confirmed a four-week trial in December 2025 offering five 0.33‑liter canned varieties, including Original, Super-Zero, Classic Light, Limo Orange and Mischmasch.
  • Cans will be sold in selected shops in St. Pauli and the Sternschanze, targeting areas where glass bottles are often restricted.
  • Each can carries a QR code to collect customer feedback, and two different designs will be tested during the pilot.
  • Fritz-Kola frames cans as a limited complement to its glass returnable system and says it continues to invest in glass Mehrweg.
  • The rollout responds to rising can sales in Germany over five years (+47% cited) and includes cans with recycled aluminum bodies, with industry tests for recycled lids reported.
