Frisco Police Charge Dallas Mother With Murder in Hot-Car Death of 15-Month-Old

Police allege the child was left for over two hours in a car with no working air conditioning during 95-degree heat.

  • Frisco detectives say 27-year-old Vanessa Esquivel intentionally left her 15-month-old in a vehicle while she was at work in the 3200 block of Preston Road on Aug. 16.
  • Police report the vehicle’s air conditioning was not functioning and the outside temperature was at least 95 degrees.
  • Esquivel was arrested by Dallas Police on Aug. 20, transferred to Frisco, and booked into the Collin County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
  • The charge is a first-degree felony; if convicted, she faces five years to life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
