Fresno State Names Matt Entz as New Head Football Coach

The former North Dakota State champion coach will lead the Bulldogs as they prepare to join the Pac-12 in 2026.

Fresno State has hired Matt Entz, USC's assistant head coach and linebackers coach, as its new head football coach on a five-year deal.
Entz previously led North Dakota State to two FCS national championships and a 60-11 record during his tenure as head coach from 2019 to 2023.
He replaces interim coach Tim Skipper, who guided the Bulldogs to a 6-6 record this season after Jeff Tedford stepped down due to health concerns in July.
Entz's hiring comes as Fresno State prepares for a significant transition to the Pac-12 Conference, set to begin in the 2026 season.
USC players and staff expressed surprise and disappointment at Entz's departure, citing his positive impact on the team during his brief tenure.
