Freshman Carlton Carrington recorded a triple-double with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists for Pittsburgh in their opener against North Carolina A&T, marking the first such accomplishment for the school since 1998.
The Panthers' victory also marked their first match with a score in triple digits since 2016, with a final score of 100-52.
Aside from Carrington's monumental feat, Federiko Federiko contributed a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Jorge Diaz Graham and Blake Hinson also contributed significantly to Pitt's victory.
North Carolina A&T was led by Kyle Duke, scoring 15 points off the bench, but the team as a whole struggled, scoring only 52 points against Pitt's 100.
Following this triumphant opener, Pitt will continue its four-game home stand, next hosting Binghamton.
