Overview
- Sonamarg, Gulmarg, Gurez, Zojila and other high reaches received fresh snow, drawing tourists and causing traffic snarls that required police and CRPF assistance.
- Pakistan’s Met Office says the current system persists through Jan. 19 before intensifying from Jan. 20, with widespread rain and snow forecast across northern regions from Jan. 21 onward.
- Heavy snowfall is predicted Jan. 20–23 in Murree, Galiyat, several upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts, and parts of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, with rain spreading to Islamabad, Punjab cities, Balochistan and Sindh.
- Dense fog is set to continue across Punjab, upper Sindh and KP plains, with officials warning of disrupted road and air travel after flight and train delays were reported in the Jammu region.
- IMD/MeT projects light to moderate precipitation across Jammu & Kashmir Jan. 21–24, with a risk of moderate to heavy snow in Chenab valley, Udhampur, Reasi and south Kashmir on Jan. 23–24 as PDMA issues travel cautions.
