Overview
- The 20 adolescents, selected by the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, formally delivered their proposals to the 130-member citizens’ convention rethinking children’s time.
- The core plan sets a Monday–Friday day from 9:00 to 15:30 with no Wednesday break, mornings for theory and afternoons for practical learning, and a 90‑minute lunch.
- Homework would be lighter and completed at school in dedicated spaces with an accompanist to safeguard students’ free time.
- The students call for 45‑minute lessons for concentration-heavy subjects, more active and playful teaching, smaller groups, and sports or arts activities after 15:30.
- They propose a practical civic subject covering money management, administrative tasks, cleaning, DIY and cooking, seek mentors and more internships, and leave the divisive vacations question unresolved, as the Children’s High Commissioner urged that their ideas be heard.
