French Youth Choir Members Released After Seizure-Like Episode at Cambridge Church

Authorities are probing medical causes for the unexplained symptoms after hazmat inspections found no hazards.

  • Eight members of the Chœur d’Enfants d’Île-de-France, ages 11 to 13, were treated for seizure-like symptoms at St. Paul’s Church in Harvard Square.
  • The Cambridge Fire Department’s hazmat team conducted a full air-quality sweep and found no signs of toxic substances.
  • All affected choir members were evaluated on scene, transported to area hospitals, and have since been released in stable condition.
  • Approximately 70 other concertgoers at the free performance were not affected by the incident.
  • Fire Chief Thomas Cahill said officials remain uncertain of the trigger for the episode and have launched a medical investigation.
