French underwater photographer wins Wildlife Photographer of the Year for endangered horseshoe crab image

French photographer Laurent Ballesta won Wildlife Photographer of the Year for the second time with an image of a golden horseshoe crab.
The luminescent photo highlights threats to the ancient horseshoe crab species from habitat loss and overfishing.
Ballesta's image was chosen out of almost 50,000 entries from 95 countries in the competition's 59th year.
year-old Carmel Bechler from Israel won Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year with a photo of barn owls.
The Natural History Museum exhibition of winning images opens October 13th to showcase threats to wildlife worldwide.
