Overview

  • Alain Robert climbed a 38-story building in Paris without safety equipment to support protesters of a new law raising France's retirement age
  • Known as the "French Spiderman," Robert has climbed over 150 structures worldwide including Dubai's Burj Khalifa and the Eiffel Tower
  • The controversial pension reform, signed by French President Emmanuel Macron, will gradually raise the retirement age in France from 62 to 64
  • Robert's stunt was meant to tell Macron to "come back down to earth" and reconsider the unpopular legislation set to take effect September 1
  • The reform has angered trade unions, some of which have called for protests on Labor Day
