Overview
- The parliamentary commission closed its work Wednesday with France Télévisions chief Delphine Ernotte’s second appearance after a first hearing in December.
- The inquiry ran 67 hearings with 234 participants and often turned tense as witnesses accused rapporteur Charles Alloncle of inquisitorial methods.
- Alloncle says he uncovered waste in about €4 billion in annual state funding and cited opacity, conflicts of interest, and a system of privileges in production contracts.
- The rapporteur now drafts conclusions for members to review within about two weeks, and the 31 deputies plan a publication vote on April 27 with a possible bill slot on June 25.
- A separate review on impartiality by Arcom, France’s media regulator, is due by late May, while France Télévisions works through a €150 million savings plan and vows to cut taxi costs.
