French PM Attal Pledges Support for Farmers, Boost to Employment in First Policy Speech

Attal's Policy Targets 'In-Between' People, Promises Measures to Improve Wages and School Authority

French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, in his first policy speech, vowed to boost employment, support farmers, and restore authority in schools.
Attal promised to take action so that 'work pays more' than 'inactivity', and to encourage employers to better pay workers who earn the minimum salary.
He expressed support for angry farmers, promising emergency cash aid and controls on imported food, in hopes of cooling a protest movement.
Attal confirmed a plan to experiment with uniforms in some public schools as part of efforts to reduce school bullying and vowed to diminish the time children spend on screens.
He also announced the creation of a new 'sentence of community service' for children under 16 who need to be sanctioned.
