French Parliament Approves Temporary Increase in Air Travel Tax

The new tax hike, set to begin January 2025, aims to raise an additional billion euros but will last only one year.

The French National Assembly voted 99 to 78 in favor of increasing air travel taxes for one year, starting January 1, 2025.
The tax increase excludes flights to and from French overseas and island territories, like Corsica.
Economy class passengers will see tax hikes from €2.60 to €9.50 for European destinations and up to €40 for long-haul flights.
Business class passengers will face increases from €20 to €30 for European routes and up to €120 for long-haul flights.
Critics, including Air France-KLM, warn the tax could harm the competitiveness of French airlines and the Paris air travel hub.
