French Government Rules Out Gas Tax Increase Amid Policy Debate

Despite earlier suggestions by the Minister of Ecological Transition, the government confirms no new gas tax hike in the upcoming budget.

Minister of Budget Laurent Saint-Martin also opposed the proposed gas tax hike, stating it is not included in the current budget plan.
The gas tax, known as the TICGN, had already doubled at the beginning of the previous year, prompting efforts to avoid further increases impacting consumers.
