An investigation has been launched following a complaint by France's Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau against Zineb El Rhazoui.
The inquiry focuses on a video interview where El Rhazoui made statements that could be interpreted as justifying terrorism.
In the interview, she controversially compared Israel to a 'terrorist state' and a 'successful Daesh.'
El Rhazoui refused to condemn the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and described Hamas as a 'resistance movement.'
The case has been assigned to the first district of the judicial police to determine if her comments constitute an apology for terrorism.
