Freely Expands to Roku TVs with New Channels and On-Demand Features

Overview

  • Freely will be built into the next generation of smart TVs powered by the Roku operating system, giving viewers direct access at launch.
  • Users can stream new linear channels such as The Chase, 4Homes and 5 Cops alongside traditional Freeview broadcast options.
  • The service’s app now features a seven-day backward TV guide, Never Miss viewing alerts and a My List function for bookmarking up to 50 shows.
  • Backed by BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 through Everyone TV, Freely adds Roku to its list of device partners following earlier Fire TV integration.
  • BBC chief Tim Davie has indicated that a dedicated Freely streaming device is under consideration to reach homes without smart TVs.
