  • National Donut Day has been observed since 1938 to honor Salvation Army volunteers who baked and served treats to soldiers during World War I.
  • Krispy Kreme will give one free donut of any flavor with no purchase required on June 6 and is selling a dozen Original Glazed for $2 as part of an anniversary celebration running through June 20.
