Free At-Home COVID Tests Return for U.S. Households

Eligible households can order four free tests starting late September to detect current COVID-19 variants.

Californians and all U.S. residents can request four free COVID-19 tests via COVIDtests.gov.
The U.S. Postal Service will deliver the tests directly to homes at no cost, with orders starting in late September.
The tests are designed to detect current variants and are effective through the end of the year.
KP.3.1.1, a member of the Omicron family, is the predominant COVID-19 strain in the U.S. as of August.
Since 2021, over 900 million tests have been shipped to U.S. households through similar federal programs.
