The auction featured over 1,400 items from Mercury's personal collection, including costumes, artwork, and furniture.
Proceeds from the $15.4 million sale will go to charities supported by Mercury.
The piano sale broke the previous auction record held by John Lennon's Steinway piano at $2.1 million.
