Fraudsters Attempt to Scam Indore Crime Branch Chief, Quickly Abort After Video Call

Scammers posing as officials panicked and disconnected the call upon realizing they had targeted a senior police officer in uniform.

Rajesh Dandotiya, Additional DCP of the Indore Crime Branch, was targeted by scammers on Sunday with claims of fraudulent transactions and a fake FIR.
The fraudsters posed as banking officials and later as Mumbai police officers, attempting to coerce Dandotiya into compliance by threatening to freeze his bank account.
The scammers requested a video call to record his statement but immediately disconnected upon seeing Dandotiya in his police uniform.
Dandotiya played along with the scammers for several minutes to gather evidence and later used the incident to raise public awareness about such frauds.
The officer emphasized that these scams are part of a broader trend of 'digital arrest' frauds, where criminals impersonate authorities to extort victims.
