Franz Beckenbauer Memorial Service Held at Bayern Munich's Stadium

Thousands, including German President and soccer world figures, pay tribute to the legendary player and coach.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Bayern president Herbert Hainer, and Beckenbauer’s former teammate Uli Hoeness were among the speakers at the memorial service, praising Beckenbauer's talent and personal warmth.
Eleven of Beckenbauer's closest friends, including former players Paul Breitner, Lothar Matthäus, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, laid red roses on the field during the service.

Steinmeier referred to Beckenbauer's famous quote to the Germany team ahead of the 1990 World Cup final, calling him a 'godsend' for Germany.
Uli Hoeness, who had been a Bayern Munich and Germany teammate of Beckenbauer's during the 1970s, shared personal stories of Beckenbauer's life, highlighting his modesty and ability to care for others.
