Overview

  • S-Bahn service between Frankfurt-Ostendstraße and Offenbach-Ost is suspended from July 4 at 21:00 until August 18 at 05:00 for tunnel fire safety works.
  • Replacement buses run every five minutes from both Ostendstraße and the Hauptbahnhof, providing connections to Offenbach Kaiserlei and onward to Frankfurt Süd or Konstablerwache.
  • High-pressure water mist systems are being installed at Offenbach’s Kaiserlei, Ledermuseum and Marktplatz stations to contain smoke and support firefighting in the tunnels.
  • Frankfurt Mühlberg station is also closed for additional renovations and a further full line closure is planned over the autumn school holidays.
  • Deutsche Bahn is investing around €180 million in the corridor’s modernization, having already refurbished tracks, switches and emergency lighting during recent weekend and nighttime works.
