Frankfurt Tops City Ranking for Quitting-Related Searches as Hamburg Leads by State in 2025

The findings come from an analysis of more than 600,000 Google queries in 2025 normalized per 100,000 employed people.

Overview

  • JobLeads’ city list places Frankfurt first with 32,852 quitting-related searches per 100,000 employed workers, followed by Hamburg at 25,123 and Dortmund at 22,670.
  • Bavaria ranks mid-field at eighth with 16,189 searches per 100,000, with especially frequent queries for “Kündigung schreiben” and “Kündigungsfrist” (about 14,800 each per month) and “Gesetzliche Kündigungsfrist” (about 12,100 per month).
  • On the state view, Hamburg records the highest rate of searches, while Hesse ranks second at 19,913 and Berlin third at 18,857 per 100,000 employed.
  • Rhineland-Palatinate shows the lowest state-level rate with 13,100 searches per 100,000, highlighting regional variation in information-seeking about resignations.
  • The analysis reflects search behavior rather than confirmed resignations or motives, and separate polling cited in the coverage reports nearly half of Gen Z considering a job change this year.
