Frankfurt to Host EuroGames 2028 After EGLSF Members' Vote

Organisers now shift to planning a four-day, 20-sport festival tied to CSD 2028.

Overview

  • The European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation confirmed Frankfurt as the 2028 host in a members’ decision on October 25.
  • The event is planned for four days with roughly 4,000 participants competing across 20 disciplines.
  • Frankfurter Volleyball‑Verein, Artemis Sport Frankfurt and the city sports office led the bid and will steer implementation.
  • A public program centered on the Römer includes opening and closing events, accessible sports offers, culture, workshops, participatory activities and a conference on sport, inclusion and democracy.
  • City leader Mike Josef welcomed the award as a stand for freedom and diversity, and it will be Frankfurt’s second EuroGames after 1995, with Cardiff set for 2027 and Valencia hosting the Gay Games in 2026.
