Overview

  • The city-run event on August 23 runs from 17:00 to 23:00 with music, culture, culinary offerings and art under the motto “Ganz oben. Ganz Du.”
  • Special access includes normally closed spots such as the mayor’s balcony and the Physikalischer Verein observatory.
  • Views are offered from the Städel museum roof, several church towers and rooftop bars, with the Deutsche Bank Park climbing forest adding a sport-focused vantage point.
  • Outside the metropolis, Fulda’s “Karlchen vom Dach” has operated for about a year on a former department store roof with a beer garden and activities for roughly 350 guests.
  • Regional projects show mixed paths, with Hanau’s planned Stadthof rooftop bar still in design with a decision expected by year-end and earliest opening in 2028 or 2029, while a Gießen rooftop remains vacant under noise and permitting constraints tied to financial viability.
