Frankfurt Seeks to Reclaim Hosting Rights for Prestigious IAA Auto Show

The city, with support from the state of Hesse, is vying to bring the event back after its move to Munich in 2021.

Frankfurt’s mayor, Mike Josef, confirmed the city has formally expressed interest in hosting the IAA auto show again.
The International Motor Show (IAA) moved to Munich in 2021 after decades of being hosted in Frankfurt.
The competition is for hosting rights in 2027, 2029, and 2031, with the decision to be made by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).
The state of Hesse has pledged support for the bid, including assurances for necessary security measures.
The VDA plans to finalize its decision by the summer of 2025 after evaluating proposals from both cities.
