Overview

• Europa-Universität Viadrina appointed cultural scientist Felix Töppel in June 2025 as Kleist-Beauftragter to coordinate the 250th birthday program with the Kleist-Museum.
• From the 2025/26 school year Heinrich von Kleist’s works will be included in the nationwide Abitur curriculum.
• The Kleist-Museum in Frankfurt (Oder) plans a new permanent exhibition to coincide with the 2027 anniversary.
• Töppel intends to use Kleist’s writings as a framework for public events on racism in language, nationalism and gender issues.
• University initiatives include an ideas workshop for students and discussions over a potential special exhibition on campus.
