Frankfurt Gears Terminal 3 for Full Condor Move

The planned mid‑April 2027 relocation will force baggage and ramp upgrades, reshaping transfer flows at Germany’s busiest airport.

Overview

  • Terminal 3 opened in April 2026, cost about €4 billion and has handled roughly 4.4 million passengers so far while operating well below its 19 million‑passenger annual design capacity.
  • Fraport says early T3 operations have eased pressure on northern terminals, cut aircraft towing and long bus transfers, and helped punctuality improve compared with last year.
  • Fraport and Condor are intensifying joint preparations for Condor to move all Frankfurt operations to T3 in mid‑April 2027, after which Condor would be T3’s largest customer with a projected 6–7 million passengers a year.
  • The airport expects activity at T3 to roughly double from about 150 to 300 daily takeoffs and landings, require expansion of the 18 km baggage conveyor and put Pier G and the new ramp tower into full use.
  • The shift will reshape transfer routing and security flows for many passengers, create demand for Condor lounges and tighter coordination between Fraport, Condor and the national air traffic control for gate, baggage and ramp planning.
