- Ryan earned a Ph.D. in mathematics at Rice University and worked for the U.S. House of Representatives, where he helped develop the body's first electronic voting system.
- Ryan's brain was donated to Boston University’s Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) Center for study.
