Hurricanes Helene and Milton caused significant damage to the planned venue, including sand-filled pools and water-damaged areas for the ceremony and reception.
Catania initially delayed telling Mattessich about the postponement but found she was understanding and supportive of rescheduling.
The couple chose Captiva Island for its sentimental value, as it was a favorite vacation spot of Catania's late mother, whose ashes were spread there.
