Franco Colapinto Joins Alpine as Reserve Driver on Multi-Year Deal

The 21-year-old Argentine leaves Williams after an impressive rookie season, increasing competition within Alpine's driver lineup.

Franco Colapinto has signed a multi-year contract with Alpine as a reserve and test driver for the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Colapinto replaced Logan Sargeant at Williams for the last nine races of 2024, scoring points in two of his first four starts, including an eighth-place finish in Azerbaijan.
Williams released Colapinto from his contract, stating that the move to Alpine offers him a better chance to secure a full-time seat in 2025 or 2026.
Alpine's driver lineup for 2025 includes Pierre Gasly and rookie Jack Doohan, whose position may face scrutiny with Colapinto as a strong backup option.
Alpine also signed Japanese driver Ryo Hirakawa as a reserve and test driver, expanding their pool of talent for the upcoming season.
