Overview
- Major League Baseball named Lindor the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award recipient on Monday, Oct. 26, and he was presented the honor before Game 3 of the World Series at Tropicana Field.
- The selection recognizes multi-year programs and donations that include more than $1 million to Montverde Academy, the 2026 launch of Lindor’s Leaders for Bayside High students, annual back-to-school drives with New Balance, and ongoing youth clinics in Queens and Puerto Rico.
- Lindor has provided disaster-relief funding and rebuilt athletic facilities in his hometown of Caguas after Hurricanes Maria and Fiona and has partnered with groups such as SEEN Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Special Olympics Florida and the Boys & Girls Clubs.
- A panel that included Commissioner Rob Manfred and Roberto Clemente’s children chose Lindor from 30 club nominees, and Capital One pledged $100,000 to SEEN in his honor to extend the award’s charitable impact.
- The Roberto Clemente Award, named for the Hall of Famer who died delivering aid in 1972, honors off-field character and service; Lindor is the fifth Puerto Rican-born winner and the fifth player from the Mets franchise to receive it.
