Francisco Lindor Makes MLB History with Fifth 20/20 Season

He reached 20 homers and 20 steals on Aug. 16 to become the first shortstop with five 20/20 campaigns despite the Mets’ 3–14 skid in their last 17 games.

Overview

  • Lindor singled in the seventh inning at Seattle and then beat Cal Raleigh’s throw to second for his 20th steal of the season.
  • He has collected 24 home runs this year and holds a .255 batting average with a .775 OPS.
  • His fifth 20/20 campaign tops the four such seasons recorded by former shortstop leaders Jimmy Rollins and Hanley Ramirez.
  • Earlier this season he joined Derek Jeter and Jimmy Rollins as the only shortstops with at least 200 career home runs and 200 stolen bases.
