France’s Most Wanted Fugitive Mohamed Amra Arrested in Romania

Amra escaped custody in May 2024 during a violent ambush in Normandy that left two prison officers dead and two others seriously injured.
Over 300 investigators worked on the case, using an Interpol red notice and intelligence to track Amra to Eastern Europe.
Amra, who continued managing criminal operations while in custody, faces extradition to France where he is charged with orchestrating murders and other crimes.
The families of the slain prison officers expressed relief at the arrest, while authorities continue to pursue Amra’s accomplices in the deadly escape.
