• Santé publique France reports a peak between 11 and 17 August of up to 286 heat-related emergency visits per day and 67 SOS Médecins consultations.
• People aged 75 and over accounted for about 60% of hospitalisations following heat-related emergency visits, while 15–44-year-olds represented 40–60% of hyperthermia cases.
• The heatwave ran from 8 to 18 August and brought this summer’s tally to 27 heatwave days, the second-highest on record after 2022 in a warming climate.
• Météo‑France says the event was less intense than 2003 at the national scale, though the south‑west saw comparable levels with prolonged tropical nights in cities such as Nice, Sète and Perpignan.
